From Manual Work to No-code SEO Automation: Giordano Tonelli’s Journey with DataForSEO
About Giordano Tonelli
Giordano Tonelli is an experienced full-stack digital marketer with over 10 years of expertise. He started his career by mastering PPC and quickly expanded into the dynamic SEO sphere. As a solo entrepreneur, Giordano had an opportunity to collaborate with customers across various industries, adding invaluable and diverse experience to his portfolio. For now, Giordano focuses on working with small businesses, primarily in the ecommerce and travel sectors, helping them improve digital marketing and SEO.
Giordano leverages a comprehensive pyramid approach in SEO, where the foundation is always the technical component. As he explains, “Technical SEO is my starting point and the primary aspect I focus on. Once the technical side is in order, I move on to content optimization, ensuring that all elements are well-structured and search-friendly. Lastly, I address link building. Overall, 90% of my focus is on technical SEO and on-page optimization”.
Key business challenges
For Giordano, the ambitious role of a digital marketing expert comes with its challenges. One of the biggest is managing multiple complex tasks and processes for all clients single-handedly.
“As a one-person company, I manage every aspect of my work independently. Since I handle multiple digital marketing channels for my clients, staying updated on everything is one of the most complex challenges,” emphasizes Giordano.
Handling a wide range of SEO tasks for multiple clients, Giordano needed a way to streamline his processes and maintain the quality of results. This led him to explore automation solutions that could accelerate his workflow and ensure a high-performance level for projects.
In particular, Giordano recognized the urgent need for efficiency in optimizing content for ecommerce clients without compromising quality. Working with one of such clients, he faced the challenge of creating numerous SEO-optimized category descriptions and FAQ elements for a large ecommerce website. Giordano explains this as follows:
“The main challenge was to develop high-quality SEO descriptions and FAQs quickly and efficiently while keeping costs low. Given that the e-commerce store has over 300 categories, it was crucial to implement a scalable solution that could generate these contents rapidly without sacrificing quality.”
Giordano found the solution to this challenge by building an automation that would both create and update category descriptions and FAQs for website pages. Additionally, these descriptions and FAQs needed to be SEO-optimized from the start and include real data to ensure relevance. What’s more, he wanted this automation to be customizable for generating other types of content, such as product descriptions and blog articles.
Driven by this goal, he searched for the best tools to bring his idea to life.
Developing the solution
The search led Giordano to explore the Make automation platform, where he discovered DataForSEO APIs – the crucial elements of his automation puzzle. He saw them as perfect instruments for automating key SEO tasks in the workflow.
“What convinced me to choose DataForSEO was the ability to automate processes that were previously done manually, such as finding related keywords and extracting Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). In general, I appreciate services that allow me to build automations, and DataForSEO is perfect for applying automation to SEO tasks,” explains Giordano.
Along with DataForSEO API modules, his automation includes an OpenAI element for generating content and WooCommerce modules that connect the workflow to a website. The complete automation workflow, designed by Giordano looks as follows:
1. The process starts by selecting a WooCommerce category and extracting all products within that category, creating a comprehensive list.
2. Subcategories related to the main category are also identified and collected in another list.
3. The primary keyword of the category is determined, and DataForSEO APIs are used to find related keywords, analyze SERP results, and extract “People Also Ask” (PAA) questions.
4. Using all the gathered data (products, subcategories, related keywords, SERP insights, and PAA questions), a structured prompt is created for OpenAI to generate an optimized category description and four frequently asked questions.
5. The FAQ responses are directly formulated using the extracted “People Also Ask” data from DataForSEO’s module.
6. The newly generated category description and FAQs are automatically updated in WooCommerce.

DataForSEO modules play a crucial role in this workflow as they allow for the quick collection and analysis of SERP and keyword data to create category descriptions and FAQs. In particular, Giordano uses three main DataForSEO modules in this automation:
Get Parsed SERP module – This module analyzes the SERP results to understand which content ranks for a specific keyword. It helps create category descriptions that align with what Google already values.
Get Keywords for Keywords – Used to find related keywords for the main category keyword. This enhances content with relevant terms, improving SEO performance.
Make an API call module – Extracts the most frequently asked questions from Google related to the category. These questions are then included in the FAQ section, with responses generated automatically.
Combining these three modules allows for creating optimized content based on real data, ensuring it meets users’ search intent. In particular, Giordano emphasizes that DataForSEO API data gives the necessary context for AI-content generation:
“The key element is context creation: the more relevant information provided to the AI, the better the generated output. By leveraging data from DataForSEO’s APIs (SERP analysis, related keywords, People Also Ask questions), I can supply OpenAI with a well-structured and information-rich framework, significantly improving the quality and relevance of the automatically generated content.”
As a result, this workflow completely eliminates the need to manually create category descriptions, FAQs and search for relevant data and context for each content element. All parts of the process, from data analysis to content updates are done automatically.
Why is this solution a success?
This automation proved to be helpful and practical instantly from the start. First, it significantly sped up creating and updating the content for the customer’s website. Giordano recalls, “Thanks to this automation, I was able to build the entire system in about a day, and within half a day, I generated descriptions and FAQs for 320 subcategories and categories in the e-commerce store where I implemented this solution.”
Besides, the content generated and implemented by this automation helped to boost the website’s visibility, traffic, and bounce rate only within a month.
“In about a month, the number of ranked keywords has doubled, and organic traffic has tripled. Beyond keyword growth, there has also been an improvement in bounce rate on optimized pages, thanks to the newly added content,” says Giordano. He also expects this solution to deliver even better results, “The initial results are very promising: the increase in ranked keywords suggests that Google is beginning to recognize and value the newly optimized content.”
Additionally, compared to traditional approaches, like relying solely on AI for content generation, this automation ensures that every piece of content is precise and relevant.
“This strategy significantly improves content quality compared to traditional approaches, where AI-generated text often lacks depth or relevance. With this automation, the resulting descriptions are more precise, search-optimized, and aligned with actual user queries,” notes Giordano.
In a nutshell, here’s what Giordano achieved by creating this solution with DataForSEO and Make:
- Completely automated the generation of the website’s content elements;
- Ensured that each piece of content was based on actual data and SEO optimized;
- Significantly boosted the website’s visibility and traffic within a month with generated content.
Innovating ahead with DataForSEO
Satisfied with the solution’s success and the effectiveness of DataForSEO APIs, Giordano is eager to build even more innovative automations to streamline SEO.
“My future goal is to build even more automations and integrate them further into both my own work and my clients’ workflows. I aim to make SEO and digital marketing processes increasingly scalable and efficient through automation,” says Giordano.
In particular, he is designing a new automation for creating SEO-optimized event descriptions for a customer. As Giordano points out:
“I am developing a system for the automated generation of event descriptions to enhance a database for a travel industry client. Currently, the events in the database lack detailed information. The goal is to leverage OpenAI and DataForSEO to generate structured and descriptive content, significantly improving the quality and completeness of the data.”
Aside from content generation, Giordano plans to integrate DataForSEO APIs with Notion to build a tailored keyword research tool:
“I would love to develop a keyword research tool integrated with Notion. The idea is to create a system that allows keyword research directly within Notion, leveraging DataForSEO’s APIs to collect data on related keywords, search volume, and trends.”
As we can see, Giordano’s future plans for DataForSEO are both ambitious and forward-thinking, reflecting his commitment to continuous innovation in digital marketing automation. He is confident that DataForSEO is the perfect solution for anyone who wants to create powerful, scalable tools, especially for the following reasons:
“Ease of use, making integration simple even for those who are not expert developers. Native integrations with platforms like Make, thanks to preconfigured modules that greatly simplify the workflow. Responsive and always available support, which is crucial when working with APIs and automation. A transparent and competitive pricing model, offering great value compared to other solutions on the market.”
In conclusion, Giordano Tonelli’s story highlights the incredible value of DataForSEO APIs for independent digital marketers and automation-focused professionals. By combining DataForSEO’s structured SEO data with powerful automation tools, Giordano has not only streamlined his workflows but also delivered measurable results for his clients. With DataForSEO as a core part of his toolkit, he’s ready to take his automation projects even further.
