Sure enough, you need to go further than 12 months back in data to accurately evaluate such terms and the potential gains they may bring you. For this case, the year-over-year comparison is vital. This approach to keyword analysis will help you pick the best-fitting topics, and secure additional traffic during specific seasons.
How to leverage historical search volume data in your tool?
As you can see, historical search volume has a great value for different keyword research tactics. Below we’ll reveal a few examples of how you can empower your keyword research tool with handy new features your users will certainly appreciate.
Starting from the basics, you can simply add a year-over-year difference column. In this example, the difference is displayed in percentages, accounting for the change in the past 12 months. However, with DataForSEO Labs, you can calculate the trend back to 2019.
Taking this further, you can also add a separate view (or a graph representation) for monthly search volume trends dating back to 2019. For large-volume keyword lists, a graph from the example below should be the most optimal choice.

How much does it cost?
Overall, the billing for the Historical Search Volume endpoint works the same as for other endpoints in DataForSEO Labs API. Your account will be charged $0.01 for setting a task and $0.0001 for each data row you will receive in the results array.
Note that the maximum number of keywords you can specify when configuring your request to the Historical Search Volume endpoint is 700. Accordingly, 700 is the maximum number of items you can obtain in response.
Simply put, you specify 700 keywords and set a task:

Overall, your account is charged $0.08.
Taking this a few levels up, if you need to get historical search volume rates for 7,000,000 keywords, you need to set 10,000 tasks (specifying 700 keywords in each), and you’ll pay $100 for that. Once you receive results for these 7,000,000 keywords, you’ll pay $700. In total, it will make $800 for data on 7M keywords.
Note that we’ve collected an extensive database of keywords, however, the depth of available historical data may vary depending on the location and language combination you set for the specified search terms.
Also, we’d like to highlight that we’ve taken care of no extra spendings for you. One request you make to our API can contain up to 700 keywords. Yet, in case our database doesn’t contain some of the keywords you specified, they will not be returned in the results array, and you won’t be charged for them accordingly.
