Not all prices are created equal, and now our Google Shopping API reflects that better. We’ve added a small new feature that unlocks big insights into seller pricing tactics.
What’s new
In some Google Shopping offers, product prices may be shown as monthly payments over a set period rather than a single upfront cost.
To help you interpret these listings more accurately, the response of the Google Shopping Sellers endpoint now includes a new field: price_multiplier
. It represents the number of months the listed monthly payment covers.
For example, if a product shows a monthly price of $100 and price_multiplier
is 12, the total product price would be $1,200.
About the endpoint
The Google Shopping Sellers endpoint provides a list of sellers for a specific product. It includes comprehensive details for each seller, such as the base product price, total price, shipping options, and special offers.
Why it matters
This update will help you analyze and compare Google Shopping offers more effectively. With the addition of the price_multiplier
field, you’ll now have a more comprehensive view of sellers’ pricing strategies, especially when they use installment-based pricing models.
You can already start using the new price_multiplier
field. Visit our documentation to learn more.
