The way we search is evolving, and so should our tools. Starting today, you can access Bing’s brand-new Copilot Search feature through the Advanced function of our Bing SERP API! From quick insights into featured content to source tracking, this update brings new depth to your SERP data analytics and SEO tools.
What is Copilot Search?
Launched by Microsoft in April 2025, the Copilot feature is Bing’s response to the evolution of AI-integrated search. It delivers AI-generated summaries right on top of the search results page, provides source references, and (sometimes) featured images.
Additionally, Bing has rolled out a separate Copilot Search tab where users can engage in a more conversational, AI-powered search experience, including follow-up queries.
What’s new in Bing SERP API?
You can now obtain the Copilot AI Summary data in the ai_overview item of the API response. It will contain:
➤ Generated summary text, split into individual ai_overview_element objects;
➤ Featured images (if available);
➤ Source references including the name, domain, title, snippet, and URL.
This feature allows you to track when a Copilot summary appears in the results and understand which sites are being cited by Bing’s AI.
