Google has now widely rolled out google.com/goto URLs across organic search results. These are intermediary URLs that redirect users to the actual page shown in the search results.
How DataForSEO is addressing this change
We identified this behavior before the broader rollout and had already implemented a solution that resolves Google’s goto URLs to their direct destinations.
As a result, only 0.01% of SERPs returned through our API may contain at least one unresolved goto URL for organic elements, even though Google now uses goto for nearly all organic listings.
Here’s the percentage of returned SERPs that may contain at least one unresolved goto URL in other SERP elements:
- 52.26% – in AI Overview,
- 25.1% – in local pack,
- 0.39% – in featured snippet.
Note that these figures show the percentage of SERPs returned through our API that may contain at least one unresolved goto URL, not how frequently Google uses such URLs overall.
What it means
Because we detected and addressed this search engine behavior early, we can already return direct destination URLs of organic results for 99.99% of SERPs.
The most significant remaining impact is concentrated in AI Overviews, and our developers are actively working to resolve goto URLs in this and other affected SERP features.
We are continuing to monitor the rollout closely and adapt our processing as Google’s implementation evolves.
